Autumn, Fall, October, Sweater Season: whatever you’d like to call it, the later half of the year is officially upon us. October starts the onslaught of holidays, from Halloween to New Years, the Autumn months can be both frenetic and incredibly joyful. Pumpkin everything may not be everyones jam, but we have a pretty good idea that now that the summer heat is dissipating, we can settle into some fireside nights.

Even the simplest hot cocoa is a great staple of the fall and winter months, and we certainly love adding a bit of chili pepper to ours to give its a kick. At our winter markets this year we will have some of our signature hot chocolate to share with you as you browse, check out the recipe below:
&Sundries Kickin’ Hot Chocolate
adapted from Bon Apetit
- 3 cups whole milk
- 2 tablespoons ground Vietnamese Cinnamon
- 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, finely chopped, plus more for shaving
- 3 tablespoons demerara or granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- Pinch of kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground chile or cayenne pepper
Combine all ingredients over low heat in small saucepan until warmed through and chocolate has melted, whisking gently to incorporate spices. Alternatively, use a high performance blender, such as a Vitamix, and use the soup preset to blend and heat. Serve with whipped creme and shaved chocolate on top.
